About the event
Matthew Swindell, Museum director, provides a guided outside 60 to 90 minute walking tour of historic sites around downtown Manchester to kick-off the Museum's new Historic Town Tour. Two time slots available: 10:30 AM and 2 PM. Registration requested. Free for All.
Mr. Swindell's tour presents a traditional walking tour, with information about each site, to introduce a newly interactive way to approach Manchester-by-the-Sea's history. The Historic Town Tour project, replacing the Museum's former digital-only application, provides a multi-modal, self-guided experience with physical historical plaques linking to a digital tour on the Museum website. With nine sites in its initial launch, the Museum plans to further expand it across the town and promote more historic areas of Manchester.
The tour will begin at the Museum's Abigail Hooper Trask House and end at the Manchester Train Station. Please plan to arrive at least five minutes early before the time slot begins.
