About the event
About one hundred years ago, "Manchester Cricket" leader Isaac May Marshall wrote "Zig Zag Journeys in Classic Lands Abroad" compiling accounts of his July 1926 Atlantic crossing on the ship Rotterdam, time in England, and European tour. Coincidentally, in July 2026, Manchester-by-the-Sea Museum director Matthew Swindell made his trip to the UK. He traveled across the pond by plane, crisscrossed southern England by train, and returned on the Queen Mary 2 to the States. With photos to show, director Swindell will regale you his experiences from Brighton to London to Bath to Salisbury and following an orchestra back home on the world's only true ocean liner still in service.
