Join Essex Heritage and the Manchester-by-the-Sea Museum for a special presentation celebrating 10 years of public access to Bakers Island Light Station. This engaging evening will explore both the history and future of this iconic maritime landmark that has guided vessels through Salem Sound since 1791.


Annie Harris, CEO of Essex Heritage will share the fascinating journey of Essex Heritage's stewardship of the light station since acquiring the property from the U.S. Coast Guard in 2014. Learn about the challenges and triumphs of preserving this remote maritime treasure, the educational programs developed, and the significant restoration work completed over the past decade.


With over 31 years of experience in historic restoration and 20 lighthouse projects for the U.S. Coast Guard, preservation mason Martin J. Nally will provide a fascinating look at the technical aspects of lighthouse preservation.
